The latest update from the World Health Organization says the global death toll from A/H1N1 flu was at least 10,582 as of December 13th.
More than six-thousand deaths occurred in the Americas, while more than one-thousand occurred in Europe. As for the other four WHO regions -- more than one-thousand died in the Western Pacific, over eight hundred and 90 flu deaths were reported in South-East Asia, the Eastern Mediterranean recorded over five-hundred and 70 fatalities, and Africa had more than one-hundred deaths.
The A/H1N1 flu virus was first identified in North America in April, and the WHO declared the new influenza as a pandemic in June. So far, the virus has caused infections in more than 200 countries.
